SEAT was established in the Spanish town of Martorell, near Barcelona, 67 years ago in 1950. Soon afterwards, the company entered into a partnership with Italian auto giant Fiat, but fell out in the early 1980s. Since 1986, SEAT has been operating under the wing of their present owner, the Volkswagen Group.

SEAT is quite well regarded for their funky looking hatchbacks that have peppy little engines that make them a delight to scoot around. The company’s range of hatchbacks starts off with the SEAT Mii, which costs only a pocket friendly GBP 9,800 to buy. Despite it being diminutive, it is reasonably well equipped and its tiny engine returns a fuel economy figure in excess of 64 mpg.

At a little over GBP 13,000, you can have the very stylish new SEAT Ibiza hatchback. The car has even won the prestigious Red Dot design award for 2017. Buyers get only one engine option, a 1.0L gasoline unit, but depending on the trim level, it is tuned to develop either 94 hp or 113 hp.

Unquestionably, SEAT’s best known vehicle series is the Leon. The SEAT Leon family starts from the basic 5 door hatchback which costs just under GBP 17,500. For an extra almost GBP 2,000, you can get the 3 door Leon SC instead. Unlike the 5 door model that comes only with a 1.6L, 113 hp engine, the Leon SC has several engine options for buyers to choose from. Power outputs in this car vary from 123 hp to 181 hp.

Although the Leon 5-door and the SC trims are priced similarly, the range-topping SEAT Leon Cupra is pegged at a hefty GBP 30,155 onwards. But for that money, you get a superbly balanced car that has a lively 2.0L, 296 hp motor under its hood.

SEAT Sedans and Station Wagons

At the present time, the only sedan in SEAT’s model range is the Toledo, which is priced at just below GBP 18,000. This aesthetic looking sedan has got all the features expected from a modern, contemporary vehicle. Also, the SEAT Toledo has two diesel engine options along with the option of selecting between manual and automatic transmissions.

The Leon also has been made into two station wagons, with the first of them being the SEAT Leon ST, which is available in five trim levels. Different engines are provided depending on the variant and prices for the Leon ST commence from GBP 18,450 onwards.

If you want a larger station wagon, SEAT will sell you the Leon X-PERIENCE at a figure just above GBP 28,210.

SEAT SUVs and MPVs

The stylish and butch looking SUV from SEAT, the Ateca, is currently the only SUV in the company’s product portfolio. It will soon be joined by the upcoming SEAT Arona as well. The SEAT Ateca is a well built, well equipped vehicle that is driven by a selection of engines that range between 1.0L and 2.0L in displacement. Prices for the Ateca commence from a little over GBP 18,000 onwards.

If you require an MPV instead of a full blown SUV, SEAT has their Alhambra for you. Costing just under GBP 25,500, the SEAT Alhambra has enough space to cart around a full family and all their luggage with ease. The vehicle is reasonably well stocked with features as well, and the build quality is one of the better ones out there in the MPV segment.

SEAT provides its prospective clients with a variety of leasing plans and financing options that they can avail to ensure that the purchasing of a new SEAT model does not become a financial burden.

The company sold 32,267 vehicles in the month of July 2017, which is a noticeable spike of over 9% from the 29,565 units that SEAT sold in the European market during the same month of 2016.
